Bande Dessinée essentials
This page is a selection of what I think are the best Bandes Dessinées ever published.
I assume that you can read French. However, it could be a great way to learn/practice la langue de Molière.
Tintin
If you venture into the realm of Bande Dessinée, Tintin is a solid pick for beginning. This is probably the most classic bande dessinée series. Avoid the first three volumes at first glance. The last one, Tintin and Alph-Art, is unfinished and not worth reading.
Tintin was translated into any major language (two of them were translated into Latin).

Blake et Mortimer
All the volumes made by Jacobs are great pieces of Bande Dessinée. Except for L'Affaire Francis Blake, read the others at your own risk...

Véritable spectacle de papier
-Edgar Pierre Jacobs

Thorgal
This BD is better in black and white. Do not ask why.

Yoko Tsuno
My feelings are mixed about the choice of integrals or separated volumes.
The first twenty volumes are good, some excellent, and later the series decays slowly.

Buck Danny

Barbe Rouge
Blueberry
The whole series is good, but the following two are masterpieces.

De Cape et de Crocs
This BD was entirely written in alexandrine. Thus, it cannot be read otherwise than in French.

Lucky Luke
The best ones are those written by Gosciny (volumes 9 to 31) plus La Diligence(volume 32)
